Exhibitors turn out in force for Convention 2016 in Stratford upon Avon. Thirty exhibitions by members – an increase of six on 2015 – and four by museums and associations gave those attending plenty to look at and think about. The sheer quantity and quality of the exhibits made the judges’ job a pleasure and a challenge at the same time. In the end Best in Show award went to Alex Balm, who at 16 is one of the youngest members of the OMRS. His exhibition War and Speed told the fascinating story of the sporting and military exploits of racing drivers Kaye Don and Ernest Stapleton. The award for the best first time entry went to Stephen Lewis for a display of medals awarded to those who fought for the Finnish nation from 1917 to 1945.
