On-line Research Library

Members are given access to our on-line research library which contains searchable back issues of the Society’s Journal going as far back as 1973, as well as a growing number of medal rolls and other medal related information useful to the collector. We also make available the Tamplin Archive which is only available on the OMRS website. This is a quite remarkable collection of information related to the awarding of numerous long service medals and decorations to British and Commonwealth personnel, assembled from a wide variety of sources.

OMRS Annual Medal Show

The OMRS run a yearly Medal Show (formerly known as the Convention) which brings together members from all over the UK and beyond and is where members and the general public can meet to share information, tips and history as well as discussing items in their personal collections. The show aims to offer various exhibits covering a wide range of subjects, whether it be covering a single or group of medals, medals to a specific regiment or unit, a family story or even just a solitary medal ribbon. In addition to the displays, a series of lectures are available to those wishing to attend covering orders, medals and research related themes and are always well attended. Finally there is always a good selection of medal dealers attending with a wide variety of items for sale, exchange or just to provide information to attendees. Details of the current Medal Show and previous events are available by clicking here.

Alongside this Show and exhibition, we also run an annual virtual convention online for those members that cannot get to the in-person event either as attendees or as presenters.

From time to time, other conventions are held in the UK and abroad and the OMRS website carries full details of these as they are announced.

Local Branches

The OMRS has various branches located around the UK as well as overseas. OMRS members and the general public can attend local branch meetings which are typically held monthly or bi-monthly, where discussions and presentations are held to share research findings, expertise and enthusiasm for orders and medals. Check the Local Branch page here to see where your nearest branch is located.
