Speakers Announced for the Medal Show 2026

We are very pleased to announce the two great lectures that will form the highlight of this year’s programme at the University of Warwick on 18th & 19th September.
We are delighted to welcome two excellent speakers who will present new research and insights that will appeal to both collectors and researchers.

These lectures complete a packed programme that includes the Friday evening Welcome Reception, the Society’s medal fair, society displays, exhibits, bourse, the Annual Dinner and the opportunity to meet fellow collectors, researchers and friends from across the country.

Morning Lecture

Afternoon Lecture
Dies, Claim References and the Old Naval War Medal: A Partial Solution to the Non-Unique Name Problem
Speaker: Arthur Satterley
Co-researchers: Peter Lomdahl and Arthur Satterley
Arthur will present the latest findings from his continuing research into the Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840, building on the groundbreaking work first published in the OMRS Journal and introduced at last year’s Weekend of Medals. This updated presentation explores new evidence that helps address one of the most persistent challenges facing researchers: the problem of identifying recipients with non-unique names. Peter Lomdahl and Arthur Satterley’s extraordinary collaborative research work has resolved this issue through the analysis of dies, claim references and surviving records.
